Sounds like a case of it is what it it is. No two people will act the exact same or have the same intentions. So to pin point what exactly the issue is is an act of futility at its best unless you actually take the time to ask them at that moment why they responded that way. Odds are is simply to clear the air of any type of misintentions, but you'll never know till you ask.

Is both an answer? Depends on the moment entirely, but being married usually means when the mood strikes after the busy schedule and it can get penciled in. In which event it's usually just boring.
But once upon a time, entirely based on the mood of the moment. The long look, the playful hand play, the bite of the bottom lip and off to the couch, bed, chair , shower... ah.... once upon a time.
